The Process
How we make it.
Sustainability is the most overused word in our industry. Almost every factory claims it. Most of them earn it through stickers, not standards.
We took a different route. We don't sell ourselves as a "green brand," because we're not one — we ship by air, we use container freight, and we're a business, not a movement. But the parts we can control, we control properly. Here's what that looks like.
01 — Proof
The certifications we actually hold
Certifications are only worth something when they're real. The ones below are independently audited and renewed yearly. We can share the paperwork on request.
OEKO-TEX
Tests every component of our textiles for harmful substances. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't ship.
GOTS
Global Organic Textile Standard. Covers our organic cotton from field to finished sock — including the dyes, the water, and the labor along the way.
GRS (Global Recycled Standard)
Verifies the recycled content in our materials. Not "made with recycled fibers somewhere" — actually measured, actually traced.
BSCI / Sedex
Social audits of the factories we work with. Working hours, wages, safety, the right to organize. Audited by third parties, not by us.
02 — Practice
What we do beyond the paperwork
Certifications cover the floor. They don't cover the ceiling. The rest is how we choose to work.
We visit our factories.
Not once. Repeatedly. We know the people who make our socks by name, we've walked the production floor, and we've seen the conditions ourselves. Most brands selling "ethically made" products have never been inside the factory that makes them.
We have personal relationships with the people who run them.
This isn't a sourcing-platform arrangement. We've worked with the same partners for years. They know our standards. We know their constraints. That's how you build something that holds up over time.
We produce on order.
We don't run on overstock. We make what studios actually need, in the quantities they need. No warehouses full of last season's designs being incinerated or dumped on secondary markets.
We build products that last.
A sock that falls apart after ten washes isn't sustainable, no matter what fiber it's made of. The single most environmentally honest thing any product can do is be used for a long time. That's the brief we give our factories.
We pay fairly, and we know what they pay their teams.
We see the supplier costs. We know the wage structures. Fair pricing for them is the only way fair conditions for their staff stay real after the auditor leaves.
03 — Honest
What we're honest about
We ship by air. Sea freight is greener, full stop. But our studios run on tight timelines — a delayed launch, a missed event, an empty shelf during peak season costs them real money. Speed is part of what we sell. We won't pretend that comes for free environmentally, and we won't sell carbon offsets to make ourselves feel better about it. We're working on shifting more volume to sea freight where lead times allow.
We're not carbon neutral. We could buy a certificate that says we are. Most of those offsets don't hold up under scrutiny, so we don't.
We don't have ten green logos at the bottom of this page. The four above are the ones we earned. The rest are mostly available to anyone willing to pay an application fee.
We're not a "sustainable brand." We're a supplier that wants to still be proud of how we work in ten years — and that means being specific about what we do, honest about what we don't, and skeptical of anyone who claims they've solved it.
